We are pleased to share that our work at Faith School in Uganda has taken an exciting step forward following the award of £25,000 from the Welsh Government’s Wales and Africa Grant Scheme!
The Wales and Africa Grant Scheme supports Welsh community groups and organisations working in partnership with communities across sub-Saharan Africa. Through funding small-scale projects, the scheme contributes to the delivery of the UN Sustainable Development Goals while creating meaningful benefits in both Wales and Africa.
With this support, we have now begun construction of 2 new classrooms at Faith School. Work has already begun, with all ISSB (Interlocking Stabilised Soil Block) produced, and foundation work currently underway. Construction is being delivered in collaboration with a local team of engineers and workers, providing local employment and upskilling.
The new classrooms will help address overcrowding and allow the school to expand and provide a high-quality education to even more students for years to come.
Alongside the construction work, we are also excited to use this project is also strengthening educational links between Uganda and Wales. We are working with Penrhys Primary School in Rhondda Cynon Taf, to develop a partnership between the schools, creating opportunities for students to learn about global citizenship and real-life application of STEM projects.
We are so grateful for the opportunity to continue strengthening Faith School and supporting its long-term development. Thank you to everyone who has supported us so far, as well as to the Welsh Government for their continued backing and for supporting skills development within our teams in both Wales and Uganda.
We will continue to share updates as the project progresses, here and on our instagram @efodcardifff
